What is your favourite part of teaching English?

I like thinking about all aspects of English and reflecting on how best to teach it to others. I find teaching most rewarding when students use the skills we teach to make progress and use English more effectively and when I see them making full use of their language knowledge to communicate with each other in order to achieve a goal. I also enjoy adapting course materials to suit students’ needs and reflecting on teaching methodology so that I can find new ways to help them reach their language learning goals.

Hobbies and interests: learning languages – or more accurately, shaking the rust off of the languages that I’ve learned in the past; philosophy – especially ethics, political philosophy and philosophy of science; cooking and baking; cycling.

What is your favourite part of teaching English?
What I enjoy most about teaching in this industry is the fact that you get to meet a diverse range of students from all age groups. It is always a priviledge being able to be a part of student’s academic journey and seeing them progress from individuals with very limited English to competent speakers. This is extremely satisfying especially when you have exceptionally gifted or qualified individuals whose only barrier is the English language.

Interests: I adore going on safaris with my family when I can. There is nothing more spectacular to me than seeing lions, elephants, hyenas etc. in their natural environment. In addition to this I enjoy creating stories for young adults and children, cooking and binge watching as many cooking shows as I can. In my opinion, the Food Network is one of the best channels out there.

What is your favourite part of teaching English?
I love sharing my love for the English language and culture with overseas students and encouraging them to be able to speak confidently. I especially enjoy teaching grammar and pronunciation, and preparing students for examination classes, as I am very interested in assessment and measuring progress. I would say overall, the best thing about teaching at Link School is the students – our students are motivated and fun, which is the perfect combination for any teacher!

Interests: In her free time, Annabelle enjoys travelling, going to the cinema, reading historical non-fiction, running, cycling, playing badminton, all water sports and is currently learning how to play golf.
