How to Apply for TfL Student Oyster Card
English Courses with 18+ Student Oyster Card
If you are studying English at Link School on a full-time English course in London you can apply for a Student Oyster Card. With a student London travelcard you can get a 30% discount on your weekly or monthly transport pass.
What is Student Travel Card?
A Student Oyster Card is a travelcard issued by Transport for London (TfL) and allows for a 30% discount on travel cards on weekly and monthly tickets. You can use it throughout the TfL network on the tube, buses the overground and trams. Student Oyster Cards are available only to full time students who live in London during their study time.
How to get a Student Oyster Card?
Eligibility criteria for Student Oyster Card applications:
- full-time course in London with at least 15 tuition-led learning hours a week
- daytime classes between Monday and Friday only (cannot be evening classes)
- minimum 14 weeks on the same course
- you must be over 18
- you must be living and studying in London
To get a Student Oyster Card with your English language course in London you need:
- a colour ID photo in a digital format
- your course start and end dates
- your student enrolment number
- a credit or debit card to pay the £20 fee online on the tfl.gov.uk website
- an active email address

If you would like to apply for a Student discount transport card, please contact Link School office. You will receive your student travelcard by post to a UK address within about 10 – 14 days.
