English Courses Preparing for Trinity SELT Exams: ISE, GESE, SEW and ESOL
At Link School of English in London we offer a range English Courses preparing for Trinity SELT exams. (SELT – Secure English Language Testing). We run group courses and private lessons to prepare for Trinity ISE, GESE, SEW and ESOL.
Trinity College London ESOL Exams are English language exams for non-native speakers of English. Trinity certificates are accepted by the UK government for visa and immigration purposes as well as by educational institutions and companies worldwide.

Trinity ISE Exam Preparation
ISE – Integrated Skills in English
The ISE is an internationally recognised exam which tests all English language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. The exam is divided into two modules: reading & writing module and listening & speaking module. The test modules can be taken together or separately.
There are five levels of the ISE exam: ISE0, ISEI, ISEII, ISEIII, ISEIV. These levels refer to the A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 levels of the CEFR.
B1 ISE exam is suitable for:
Taxi drives and private hire drivers, teachers, Tier 4 General Student Visa, Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa, Tier 2 General Visa.
You can choose from our ISE preparation courses:
- Monday to Friday 13.30 – 16.30, 15 lessons per week
- Monday to Friday 16.30 – 18.30, 10 lessons per week
- Saturday, Sunday 9.00 – 12.00, 6 lessons per week
Trinity GESE Exam Preparation
GESE – Graded Examinations in Spoken English
GESE is and internationally recognised exam accepted by universities, companies and other institutions. It’s a test of speaking and listening skills in English. The exam includes talking about a subject or text which you can choose, it can be a topic relevant to your personal experience. It’s a one-to-one interview with a Trinity examiner testing your real communication skills.
There are twelve grades of the GESE exam:
- Initial stage: grades 1 – 3
- Elementary stage: grades 4 – 6
- Intermediate stage: grades 7 – 9
- Advanced stage: grades 10 – 12
GESE exams are suitable for:
GESE Grade 5 (B1) – British Citizenship (Naturalisation), Indefinite Leave to Remain applications
GESE Grade 2 (A1) – Leave to Remain applications
GESE Grade 3 (A2) – Leave to Remain and Spouse Visa extensions
Times of GESE preparation courses:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday 13.30 – 16.30, 9 hours per week
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday 16.30 – 18.30, 6 hours per week
- Tuesday, Thursday 7 – 9 p.m., 4 or 6 hours per week
- Saturday, Sunday 16.00 – 19.00
Trinity SEW Preparation
SEW – Spoken English for Work
SEW is an English exam of speaking and listening skills. The test is based on the candidate’s chosen work-related sector. It’s a practical assessment of English communication skills in the context of everyday work environment. It covers telephone conversation, formal and informal language, presentations and other work-related issues.

UK ESOL Examinations
Trinity ESOL certificates LEvel 1 and LEvel 2 are recignised by the UK UCAS (University and Colleges Admission Services) as sufficient entry requirements to UK higher education.
ESOL Skills for Life
ESOL Skills for Life exam includes all English language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. There are five levels of this exam: Entry 1. Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 (NQF levels).
ESOL for Work Certificates
This is a test of English speaking and listening skills. There are two exam levels available: Entry 3 and Level 1 (NQF levels)
Booking your Trinity SELT Exam
Students taking exam preparation courses need to book their Trinity exams individually. Booking of the exam is student’s responsibility.
There are ten Trinity exam centres in the UK, of which three are based in London: Hammersmith, Holborn and Croydon.
